Mirrormesa
A low city of salt-ceramic blocks and brine basins, reached by raised causeways across reflective flats beneath an aurora and four moons.
Mirrormesa rises only a little above the salt plain. Low ceramic buildings cluster around brine basins and cistern courts, connected by raised causeways. A slit of amber light in the mesa gives returning travellers a landmark when shallow water erases the edges of the road.
The salt-flat crowd in One Vibration places a great gathering under the aurora. The working city lore gives that gathering a nearby everyday world: water stewardship, causeway trade and the long walk back from an open plain. The selected city references retain four moons; reflections can make the sky difficult to count.
Every cistern keeps two records: water received and water promised. Causeway keepers compare them at the amber mesa before a caravan departs. The four moons give travellers a shared sky, but the roads are judged by water depth and crust surveys rather than a reflection’s appearance.
Causeway Bazaar exchanges salt-ceramic tiles and purified mineral salts for membrane filters and pump motors. A basin trader has been selling allocations that exist only in an old ledger. Recovering the current water record could expose the trade without turning the town’s stored water into a prize for outsiders.
People and customs
The diverse salt-flat gathering connects to causeway traders, basin keepers and travellers using the raised roads.
Visitors stay on the raised road and ask before drawing from a cistern. Water reflections conceal changes in the salt crust.
Around the city
- Amber Mesa — A lit slit in the mesa marks the settlement across the reflective plain.
- Causeway Bazaar — Low stalls line a raised road above shallow brine.
- Cistern Court — A shaded communal courtyard around the settlement’s stored water.
- Mineral Plain Approach — An exposed salt route whose reflections shift with shallow water.
Proposed resources and trade
- Salt-ceramic tiles — Fired cladding made from authorised basin residue.
- Purified mineral salts — Graded workshop feedstock, kept separate from drinking stores.
- Brine-resistant seals — Locally formed pump seals for abrasive water.
Imports: Membrane filters, Pump motors
Cistern Court Pump Shop
Filter exchange, brine cleaning and seal work; structural ship repairs require another port.
Proposed salvage and contracts
- A survey marker crate — Recover the crate without removing active causeway markers.
- A stranded pump sled — Verify its docket and the salt crust before loading.
- The second ledger — Deliver the water record and decide how to expose the false allocations.
- Road under water — Restore a causeway gauge so caravans can choose a safe crossing.
Future Plunderverse exploration
